Management team, teachers (Foreign & Khmer) and operational employees of WEG - Head Office, Educational Development Institute, The Westline Schools, The Northline School, AppleTree International School, Forest Hill International School and Leaderland English Academy are hereby informed that with respect to the Announcement of MoEYS on Implementation of Early Small Vacation for Public and Private General Education in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh dated 14 March 2020 due to the contamination of COVID-19 around the world including Cambodia, and to take immediate proactive prevention of COVID-19, Westline Eduacation Group Co.Ltd (WEG) advises to all sub-schools to implement the following measures:
1. Early School Vacation will start from today, 14 March until 19 April and will resume class on 20 April 2020 for students.
2. Management, staff and teachers except hourly paid teachers will need to come to work as normal until 03 April 2020. Khmer New Year Holiday will start from 04 April until 18 April and resume back to work on 20 April 2020
3. Below are some recommended advice to prevent the spread of coronavirus and for your own safety:
a) Greeting each other by Sampheas (Cambodian way of greeting), not by shaking hand.
b) At the entrance of school or office, certain measures must be taken such as temperature checking, hand washing with soap, hand sanitizers or rubbing alcohol for 20 seconds for all staff, teachers, guardians, and all visitors before allowing them to enter the school campus and office. All foreign visitors must be asked about their travel history of the previous 14 days. A record of foreign visitors’ passport number and contact number must be noted.
c) In the event that staff, teachers or visitors are diagnosed with cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever above 37.5 ° C, headache or difficulty breathing, he/she will be asked to not enter the campus/office and will be allowed to take leave (for staff), and seek medical
advice to receive proper treatment or contact the Ministry of Health through Hotline 115 for free of charge.
d) Management, teachers and staff must avoid overseas traveling, especially in countries with high risk of coronavirus-19. In case of compulsory overseas travel, the company will request a medical checkup and return to work after 14 days of arriving Phnom Penh.
e) Management, teachers, and staff especially foreigner teachers must avoid participating in crowded social activities such as nightlife and weekend entertainments (pubs, bars, etc.), restaurants, swimming pools, gyms, and other crowded places. If necessary, wear a mask and avoid touching your eyes and nose.
f) Must maintain good personal hygiene practices by washing your hands with soap hand sanitizers or rubbing alcohol for at least 20 seconds frequently, especially when touching with common used areas or equipment such as door knobs, elevator, ATM, or phones.
g) Do regular exercise, get enough sleep, practice good hygiene, consume well-done meat/eggs and drink warm water frequently at least 2 liters daily.
h) Do not share personal items with others, such as towels, glasses cleaning cloth, cup/glasses, etc.
i) In the event that you are sick and have a symptom of fever, cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with elbows or tissues, and immediately dispose of the tissue in a covered trash bin. Wash hands and practice social distance with others to avoid the spread of the virus.
Aforementioned, I hope you all management, teachers and staff take these advice seriously and practice effectively for your own personal health, the health of our students, colleagues, friends and our Cambodian people.
